Gabri Veiga has already made his mind up on Saudi Pro League future after Toni Kroos criticism

Gabri Veiga has already made his mind up on his Saudi Pro League future after facing criticism from Toni Kroos.

Veiga moved to Al Ahli over the summer in a deal worth a reported €35 million (£30m), putting pen to paper on a three-year contract in the Middle East.

The midfielder had been the subject of interest from Arsenal and Liverpool after a string of brilliant performances for Celta Vigo.

Serie A champions Napoli then emerged as favourites to land Veiga, but the 21-year-old snubbed both the Premier League and Italy's top flight to join the Saudi Pro League.

However, it seems life with Al Ahli isn't going quite to plan for the Spaniard, who has only scored one goal so far this season.

Spanish outlet EFE Deportes have claimed that Celta Vigo are keen to resign Veiga on a loan deal until the end of the season as "prominence in the Saudi Pro League has not been as expected."

At the time, Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos branded the move "embarrassing" in a scathing assessment of the youngster's decision.

Veiga subsequently addressed accusations that he merely moved to the Middle Eastern country purely for money.

Speaking to El Larguero, he said: "I did not join the Saudi Pro League

“It was the best option to develop as a player, grow under a young coach, a team full of stars and a league improving as the Saudi Pro League. I'm 100 per cent proud of my choice"
