Jamie Carragher's controversial take on Sandro Tonali transfer will anger Newcastle United fans

Jamie Carragher has told Newcastle United they deserve to pay for not doing their due diligence over signing Sandro Tonali.
The Magpies signed Tonali from AC Milan in a £52 million deal over the summer and expected him to transform their midfield.
Last month, the Italy international was handed a 10-month ban for breaching Italian betting regulations during his time at the San Siro.
Tonali's season is over and he'll miss the opportunity to represent his country at Euro 2024.

Newcastle will likely need a replacement in the January transfer window.
They'll be able to loan players from sides owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund after Premier League clubs decided against voting for a ban on related-party-loans.
While 12 teams were in favour of the proposal, 14 were required for it to be adopted.
Newcastle have been linked with Al Hilal midfielder Ruben Neves, who moved to the Middle East from Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier this year.
Speaking on The Overlap's 'Stick To Football' from Sky Bet, Carragher criticised Newcastle's conduct surrounding Tonali's transfer and the subsequent ban.
He explained: "When we talk about Newcastle and think about Sandro Tonali - they've bought a player from AC Milan, and you could argue that Newcastle haven't done their due diligence.
"They don't know what's going on in this guy's private life.
"They've spent a lot of money and are going to lose the player - that should hurt them as a club because they haven't done things the right way.
"They shouldn't then be allowed to go and get, for instance, Ruben Neves, who is a £50 million player for free on loan because they've made a mistake. If they've made a mistake, they should pay for it."
Newcastle will be able to loan players from Al Hilal, Al Ittihad, Al Nassr and Al Ahli in January if they wish to do so.
Gary Neville believes it's a situation spiralling out of control. He also thinks the Premier League won't be able to regulate it themselves.
The Manchester United legend added: "This is beyond football people to stop this.
"What you'd hope for, at some point in the future, is that good leadership will return to this country, generally not just in football but in parliament as well. And we'll have a good government who basically bring back some sort of law and order and some empathy and some sort of social approach.
"That doesn't mean that we can't have an unbelievable Premier League, it just means that this type of manoeuvring – which we're watching at the moment – financial manoeuvring, power shifts, political games that we see [might stop].
"I think what we're seeing in the game at the moment is really dangerous."
