Tottenham could be key to Mo Salah Saudi Pro League transfer as 'loan deal' revealed

Tottenham Hotspur could be key to Mohamed Salah's potential Saudi Pro League transfer following reports that the north London club are keen to sign Al Ittihad winger Jota.

Salah was heavily rumoured with a move to the Middle East over the summer, with Al Ittihad submitting an eye-watering £215 million bid for the Egyptian in July.

However, the 31-year-old ended up staying at Anfield, with Jurgen Klopp insisting that he was never up for sale.

The forward has gone on to have an excellent start to the campaign, scoring six goals in his last five appearances.

However, Al Ittihad could revive their pursuit of Salah, should Jota leave the club in January. The 24-year-old was reportedly eager to leave the club just weeks after his arrival following a rift with manager Nuno Espírito Santo.

And Tottenham are willing to offer him a way out, with Ange Postecoglou interested in acquiring him on loan.

That's according to Football Insider, who claim that the Tottenham boss remains a fan of Jota, having previously worked with the player at Celtic.

Jota has not started a game for Al Ittihad since 1 September as he is not registered to play in the domestic league.

And his lack of playing time has opened the door to a January exit and potential reunion with Postecoglou, with a loan deal the only viable option due to his £200,000 weekly salary.

However, it remains to be seen whether Jota's potential departure would instigate their pursuit.

A report from The Athletic back in September stated that the Reds forward was "key to Alwho state: "Jota was initially signed with a view to switching to Espirito Santo's favoured system with wingers, but has so far played with a narrow diamond.

"Salah and Jota are 'key to that vision' but a lack of headway with Salah has proved troubling. That means Al Ittihad "either find an alternative target for the left-wing position or stick to their current narrow set-up which leaves them with a Jota question to answer."
