Nike issue update on Mason Greenwood after Instagram post raises questions

Nike have released a statement after Mason Greenwood's post on social media.

Greenwood is currently on loan at La Liga side Getafe after he was told that his career would lie away from Manchester United.

Ahead of the Spanish team resuming their league campaign on Saturday, the forward took to Instagram to show off his shoe collection.

He posted a picture of himself wearing a pair of Nike Air Max 97s and another image of his shoe haul.

The Englishman is free to pen a deal with another company ahead of the rest of the season.

Even though he has been dropped by Nike, Greenwood is still sporting boots made from them this season.

He has three goals to his name this season following his loan move away from Man United.

Greenwood has bagged one goal in La Liga as he netted a brace against Tardienta in the Copa del Rey.

According to a report, Getafe executives want to negotiate with Man United about a transfer or an extension of the player’s loan.

An unnamed source said: "Getafe have discussed trying to get United round the table so they can make an offer, which they believe could be attractive to United to get Mason off their wage bill.

"The likelier option is United agree for the loan to be extended as they know that Mason is happy and rebuilding his life."
