Roy Keane breaks his own golden rule at NFL game that he's followed throughout his career

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane was in attendance to watch Aaron Rogers' debut for the Jets in New York, but broke his own golden rule in the process.

The Sky Sports pundit has been vocal about his love for the NFL and made the trip across the Atlantic to take in the atmosphere at the MetLife Stadium.

Keane met up with Jets legend Nick Mangold ahead of the game and even agreed to swap shirts with the former center.

While Mangold was handed a signed Red Devils shirt, Keane was given a New York jets jersey in return, as the pair posed together for a photograph in the stands.

Although Keane looked visibly delighted by meeting Mangold, he broke a self-imposed golden rule in doing so. The 52-year-old previously lifted the lid on the last time he swapped shirts with the Republic of Ireland national team, which ended in embarrassment and led the midfielder to never ask to swap shirts again.

Recounting the story on The Overlap, Keane explained: "I've asked one player to swap a jersey, which I regret.

"We played Germany with Ireland, pre-World Cup '94 in a friendly, it was after the game, and we beat them to be fair. He was walking off and I was only being polite.

"It was the sweeper, [Matthias] Sammer, and he said no. I went "ya f****** p****' anyway. That was it. I just thought I shouldn't be asking anybody. I was only being polite, it's not that I wanted his jersey."

Keane was an honorary guest for the Jets game against Buffalo Bills, which saw the Jets win 22-16 in overtime.
