Laura Woods makes cheeky offer to England rugby legend Joe Marler who says ‘I hope my wife isn’t listening’

Laura Woods left England rugby legend Joe Marler blushing after making a cheeky offer live on air.

Earlier in the month, it was confirmed that Woods will leave her role as host of talkSPORT’s Sports Breakfast show, a position she has held since 2020.

On Wednesday morning, Woods was joined by rugby legend Marler, who paid tribute to the 33-year-old.

He said: “My tummy hurts with sadness and butterflies on my commute train in on a Wednesday morning.

“It is just not going to be the same, Laura! You're selfish, really selfish!”

Woods then made a cheeky offer to the former England star.

She replied: “Joe, I'll call you up and you can have a private show!”

Marler then joked: “Erm! I hope to lord that my wife is not listening to this.” To which Woods said: “Tell her all I am going to do is read the headlines.”

Woods added: “Joe, thanks for coming on. You have provided a lot of entertainment for us on this show.

“You have also made us miss break times, we have covered absolutely nothing in 30 minutes.

“Here's the rugby expert and we have spoken about something completely different, soft play. It's been great. Have you enjoyed it?”

When announcing her decision to leave, Woods said: “You lot, our listeners, have given me so much comfort and guided me through some of my toughest moments, without even realising it. So I wanted to thank you personally for that. I will miss it dearly. Even the Spurs fans.

“For what feels like a lifetime I’ve been a listener of talkSPORT. For the last six years it’s been my home, where we get to spend our mornings talking about sport. There’s nothing better. I know I will never find a job like this. It’s unique.”

She added: “Three years as the host of this amazing breakfast show, three bits of silverware for the trophy cabinet and record listening figures. I’m very proud of what we achieved here. One thing’s for sure: I will always be part of this family at talkSPORT.”
