Real Madrid 'ready to bid' for Kylian Mbappe as PSG's asking price revealed

Real Madrid and Liverpool have reportedly learned how much they must pay to sign Kylian Mbappe this summer - with the Spanish club said to be 'ready to bid' for the PSG star.

Manchester United have also been linked with a potential move for Mbappe after he presented a formal letter to the PSG hierarchy on Monday.

In the letter, he confirmed that he will not take up the option of adding an extra year to his contract, which expires in 2024.

When he signed his new deal last May to make him the highest-paid player in world football at the time, the decision over whether to trigger the extra year belonged to Mbappe. However, he had to confirm his intention to take up the option by July 31.

The Frenchman's decision not to do so, therefore, means that he could leave Les Parisiens on a free transfer next summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, PSG will not allow that to happen, with their main priority being to convince him to sign a new contract. If that fails, it appears likely that he will be put up for sale this summer.

And Real, United and Liverpool have now learned how much they would have to shell out as a transfer fee to sign the 24-year-old.

PSG's Mbappe asking price revealed

According to ESPN, via sources, PSG would be willing to listen to offers in the region of €150 million (around £130 million) to sell Mbappe this summer, given the possibility of losing him on a free next year.

A sale at that fee would make him the second most-expensive player in football history - although would not surpass the fee that PSG paid to bring him to Parc des Princes on a permanent basis in 2018.

Real Madrid appears the forward's most likely destination. ESPN also add that Los Blancos are 'ready to bid' for Mbappe as a replacement for the outgoing Karim Benzema.

The Spanish giants launched multiple bids to sign the forward in the summer of 2021, even seeing an offer worth €200 million rejected on deadline day.

United, meanwhile, have been linked with Mbappe since a report from Bild journalist Christian Falk emerged last month, claiming that Sheikh Jassim would want to sign the Frenchman if he took over the club from the Glazer family.

The key issue for Erik ten Hag's side, however, is based around financials.

The Athletic reported last month that United would only have a summer budget of £100 million, which would not change even in the event of a change of ownership, due to Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.

As far as Liverpool are concerned, manager Jurgen Klopp is a major admirer of Mbappe. Links between the Frenchman and the Reds date back several years - although it is highly likely that he is out of their price bracket.

But Spanish outlet Marca claim Liverpool are a 'great candidate' to sign Mbappe - meaning a move cannot completely be ruled out just yet.
