Jon Jones wants fierce rival Daniel Cormier to commentate on his UFC return

Jon Jones may have very well turned a new leaf.

The UFC star is set to make his return to the sport next month with a heavyweight title match against Ciryl Gane.

And apparently, there’s one man that he is keen to have in the commentary booth for that fight - his infamous rival Daniel Cormier.

The pair had one of the most heated feuds in the history of the UFC.

The pair fought twice, with Jones winning on both occasions, however, the second bout was overturned after ‘Bones’ tested positive for a turinabol metabolite.

Throughout that two-fight feud, plenty of verbal sparring took place as the pair clearly did not like each other.

Ahead of UFC 178 in 2014 the pair engaged in an on-stage scuffle during the staredown ahead of their bout.

Jones threw a punch DC’s way and they had to be restrained by coaches and event organisers.

However, despite the presumed bad blood in the past, Jones has seemed to have changed his mind about the now-UFC commentator.

The former light-heavyweight champion was presumably in a good mood online, tweeting out his thanks.

He wrote on Twitter: “I’m so incredibly grateful this morning, that could’ve turned out so many different ways. Been thanking God all morning.”

Those good vibes were proven to be more than just a statement as Jones went on to ask his former rival to commentate at UFC 285.

He tweeted: “DC you are more than welcome to commentate at my fight, I think you are really good at what you do. I trust that you would be non-biased. All the best brother.”

A few moments later he replied to a fan who had insisted that Cormier be the one to conduct the post-fight interview inside the cage.

Jones responded: “Whoever wants to do it, totally cool with me.

“I feel like I’m in a whole new chapter of my life, let bygones be bygones.”

This really may be a new leaf.

DC was off the announce booth for the UFC Perth card in a surprise move.

He tweeted following the event: “Ok, any other fights you want me off? I took last night off at your suggestion. Was the experience much more enjoyable?”
