Joe Rogan was left stunned by the result of Islam Makhachev’s fight against Alexander Volkanovski during UFC 284.
It was the first time that UFC returned to Australia since 2019 as the pair battled it out for glory at the RAC Arena in Perth.
The main event saw Volkanovski move up from featherweight to challenge lightweight champion Makhachev for the 155-pound belt.
In what was a dramatic bout, it was Makhachev who managed to retain his belt, which surprised Rogan. You can watch his reaction below.

Rogan was doing a live watch-along alongside Brendan Schaub and Bryan Callen.
All three were convinced that Volkanovski had done enough to win the title as they were all shocked by the result.
Schaub claimed: “Volkanovski was f***ing robbed!” Whilst Rogan simply said: “Oh my God, oh my God!” in disbelief.
After the fight, Makhachev said: “I thought he was going to be easy on the ground but this guy proved he wasn’t.
“I showed why I am number one. If you like it, I am the best fighter in the world right now, thank you.”
Whilst Volkanovski said: “I appreciate the support but let's have a round of applause for Islam. Obviously, a lot of people are going to be happy with that because they didn't give me a chance but it was a fun fight.
“Obviously I'd like to say this message with a win but there's nothing wrong with challenging yourself. Challenge yourself like this it only makes you stronger.
“You can see I can get the job done but I came up short tonight, congrats to Islam, great fighter.”
Just watched the fight, I definitely think I won 2,3 and 5. Surprised I didn’t get my hand raised! Let’s do the rematch, anywhere, anytime! 👊
