Saudi Pro League club Al Ettifaq could sell two foreign players to make room for Jesse Lingard

Saudi Professional League side Al Ettifaq could sell two first-team players in a bid to make room for Jesse Lingard.

Since leaving Nottingham Forest on the back of the 22/23 season, Lingard went back to his former club West Ham United to maintain his fitness.

Last month, it was confirmed that the former Manchester United player will train with Saudi Arabian side Al Ettifaq, who are managed by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.

According to ESPN, Al Ettifaq are ready to part ways with two foreign players so that they have the room to sign Lingard.

Saudi Professional League rules state that only eight foreign players are allowed to be included in a matchday squad and Al Ettifaq currently have 10.

As a result, they are looking to sell at least one, which could then make way for Lingard’s permanent arrival.

The report stated that Swedish player Robin Quaison and Brazilian forward Vitinho could be the two departures.

So far, the Englishman has signed the likes of Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum and Demarai Gray.

Gerrard is believed to be knee on having Lingard in his squad after the 30-year-old played and scored in a friendly against Al Khaldiya earlier in the month.

Apart from Al Ettifaq, Lingard was also linked with Spanish La Liga side Osasuna after leaving Forest.

During his time with United, Lingard managed 35 goals in 232 appearances and has also been capped 32 times by England.
