"Most disgraceful decisions" - Jermaine Jenas irate at controversial Newcastle penalty call vs PSG in furious TV rant

Jermaine Jenas delivered an impassioned rant on TNT Sports after Paris Saint-Germain were awarded a controversial stoppage-time penalty against Newcastle in the Champions League.

Newcastle were 1-0 in the 94 minute at the Parque des Princes when the ball ricocheted off Tino Livramento's chest and onto his arm, sparking massive calls for a penalty from the PSG players and fans.

Upon being asked to go to the monitor, the referee decided to award the spot-kick, which Kylian Mbappe confidently converted for PSG to claim a vital point.

The penalty decision has caused massive controversy, and sparked fury among the TNT Sports pundits.

On the matter former Newcastle player Jenas said: “When you look at that decision there, it’s one of the most disgraceful decisions I’ve seen in a long, long time.

“The reason being - you look at the nature of the game, all the energy the players have put into it, and it comes down to a really shocking decision that a referee has made.

“Not in any walk of life is that a penalty. What is Livramento meant to do with his arms? Wrap them round his back? I'm fuming. The players threw everything at it and it should have been one of those historic wins.

“There’s that feeling that you’ve been cheated.”

He added: “I think it's a shocker. The referee had such a good game but he's caved really. For that to happen, in that moment like that, after Newcastle performed the way they did, it doesn't feel right.

“It's a bitter pill to swallow.”

Meanwhile, Ally McCoist said: "It comes off Tino Livramento's chest and hits his elbow.

“That is absolutely never a penalty. If we're giving a penalty for that, then it is a disgrace.”

McCoist continued: “It's bordering on a robbery. If I was playing I'd have a real feeling of injustice.”
