Harry Kane names the one player he would have most liked to play alongside

Harry Kane has named the one player he would have most liked to play alongside during his professional career.

The 30-year-old England captain signed for Bayern Munich in the summer, and is now team-mates with some of the top stars of German football.

Manuel Neuer, Joshua Kimmich, Alphonso Davies, Thomas Muller and Jamal Musiala are among the most iconic players at Bayern.

At Tottenham, meanwhile, Kane regularly lined up alongside the likes of Son Heung-min, Christian Eriksen, Kyle Walker and Dele Alli - as well as, briefly, Gareth Bale.

And on international duty with the Three Lions, Wayne Rooney, Jude Bellingham and Raheem Sterling have all played with Kane.

It's fair to say, then, that the 30-year-old would have a hard time deciding his best team-mate out of the choices available. But which other player from the world of football would he love to call his team-mate?

Speaking to ESPN, Kane gave the name of none other than Lionel Messi.

He explained: "I'd love to play with Messi. One of the greatest players to ever play our game.

"I'm sure he'd be able to give me a few assists!"

Kane may have chosen Messi over Cristiano Ronaldo in the team-mate stakes - but in a separate interview with ESPN, he actually revealed that both players were his inspiration and motivation to become one of the top strikers in world football.

"I think of what they've done, they are as good in their 30s as they were in their 20s.

"Me just turning 30 now, it obviously gives me excitement to know if I keep my body in good shape, and I keep my mentality right, I could be playing at the highest level for as long as I want to do it.

"Those players have set the bar - those and a few others as well. It just motivates me and tells me that it's possible [to keep playing].

"It is great watching those players still performing, two of the greatest players ever to play our game."
