Golfers discover highly-venomous snake sitting in the hole

Golf can throw up some curveballs from time to time.

You get stuck in the bunker, your ball gets lost in the pond, or you have to ruffle through the woods after a wayward shot.

But it’s not too often you come up against this type of predicament.

Although not surprising given it’s in Australia.

In yet another indication that the land Down Under is nothing to mess with, some golfers in Sydney discovered a deadly snake nestled in the hole on the second green.

The golfers who were playing at The Coast Golf and Recreation Club were in for a surprise when they came up against a red-bellied black snake lying in wait.

The venomous snakes are quite deadly, however, have been known to generally leave humans alone as long as they aren’t bothered.

And the golfers certainly weren’t too keen on bothering this comfy fella.

A representative for the golf club said the snake had been seeking some shade from the summer heat and eventually moved on on its own accord.

Posting the video on social media, the golf club wrote: “All golfers were happy to take the two putts offered to them and move on.”

And fair enough, you don’t want to mess with those slippery guys.

The footage attracted plenty of comments from golf enthusiasts online.

One commented: “And this is why I live where it’s cold. I don’t mind golf sims for the winter hahaha. I prefer to finish my round than land in the hospital or in the ground.”

Another said: “Finally a decent excuse for missing short.”

A third added: “I bet he's swallowed a golf ball before! … thought it was an egg?”

These sneak reptiles aren’t too uncommon on a golf course in Australia.
