Drake joins NBA stars in firing back at Noah Lyles over NBA 'world champions' claim, he didn't hold back

Drake has fired back at Noah Lyles after he took exception to NBA Finals winners being labelled as 'world champions'.

Lyles enjoyed a stunning week at the World Athletics Championships as he won gold in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m.

"You know what hurts me the most is that I have to watch the NBA Finals and they have 'world champion' on their head," he said. "World champion of what? The United States?

"Don't get me wrong. I love the U.S... at times, but that ain't the world. That is not the world. We are the world. We have almost every country out here fighting, thriving, putting on their flag to show that they are represented.

"There ain't no flags in the NBA."

Several big NBA names responded to the sprinter's swipe, including Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant and Denver Nuggets ace Aaron Gordon.

Durant said: "Somebody help this brother."

Gordon: "Whatever... I’m smoking buddy in the 200m."

Miami Heat Bam Adebayo chimed in: “Lol is somebody going to tell him."

Austin Rivers added: "Simply put. Best players in the world play in the league. So... winning a NBA championship qualifies as world champs. [I don’t know] what’s more cringe, his comment or his voice and delivery."

Lyles' words have caused a huge stir amongst the NBA bubble, with Drake even getting involved as he joined in blasting the track medalist.

"He thought this speech was gonna be so hard in the mirror the night before… now the whole league doesn’t rate u," he wrote on Instagram, accompanied with three laughing face emojis.

The superstar rapper is not just a diehard Toronto Raptors fan but also the team's global ambassador.

Just like a plethora of NBA stars, Drake isn't happy with Lyle's outburst.
