David Beckham names dream five-a-side team that doesn't Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi

David Beckham has revealed his dream five-a-side team but neither Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi made the cut.

The former Manchester United, Real Madrid and England star is the subject of a new four-part documentary on Netflix, chronicling his journey from humble beginnings to global football superstar.

The series covers his career, life and family with a new level of insight and stories that have never been heard before.

Beckham is busy as Inter Miami co-owner these days but still has a football pitch in the back garden of family home.

In the programme, he explained it is most frequently used by his middle son Romeo, who signed a one-year deal with Brentford B's team after an impressive loan spell from Inter.

The 21-year-old constantly pesters his father for a game between his friends and Beckham's pals but the ex England captain has a bit of an advantage given the people he has rubbed shoulders with over the years.

Beckham is regularly in the company of seven-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi these days after bringing him to Miami but neither he or Ronaldo made 'Golden Balls' side.

However, it was stacked with serious quality, with Roberto Carlos, Luis Figo and Ronaldo Nazario all getting selected.

"Romeo comes out here all the time," Beckham said.

"He wants a match between my mates and his mates. He said: 'Who would you invite?'.

"And I said: 'Well, maybe I'd get Gary [Neville] round. And he was like 'Okay'.

"Then I said 'Well I could probably get Roberto Carlos to come over, and maybe Ronaldo, he would step over.

Maybe [Luis] Figo, maybe [Zinedine] Zidane].' And he was like: 'Well that's not fair! Why would you do that?'.

"And I would be like 'Well, because I'm gonna win. We're gonna win!' I'm not letting his mates beat us!"

The idea was even put to Figo, who had a priceless response when he said: "Against his kids? I would kill them! The kids!"

Beckham turned 48 earlier this year but he showed he's still got a gorgeous free-kick in his locker, rolling back the years with a stunning set-piece during a kickabout at the DRV PNK Stadium.
