Barnsley score 91st minute winner against Wycombe in the most ridiculous ending to a game ever

First and foremost, we can only sympathise with the hundreds of Wycombe fans who made the six-hour round trip to Barnsley this evening, just to witness what will go down as one of the most bizarre moments in Football League history.

But in a moment of madness, Wanderers goalkeeper Max Stryjek dropped the ball after Barnsley forward Sam Cosgrove barged into the Polish goalkeeper. The 26-year-old striker, who couldn't believe his luck, tapped home from close range to give Neill Collins' side all three points.

As you can see from the footage above, Stryjek dropped to the floor after the nudge from Cosgrove but referee Darren Drysdale saw no infringement as the ball spilled loose.

A number of Wycombe players were understandably frustrated by Drysdale's decision in stoppage time. In fact, midfielder Harry Boyes received a second yellow card for dissent after voicing his thoughts on the matter.

Barnsley would go on to claim a huge win in their fight for promotion and after the full-time whistle, Cosgrove joked that it was the best goal he'd ever scored.

One fan said: "What is most beautiful part here by the way. The striker having a go anyway? The ref giving nothing? The keeper exasperated that his behaviour wasn't somehow rewarded with a nonsense free kick? Lots to enjoy."

A second wrote: "Spent the whole game time wasting and does this to chuck the game away. Absolutely no sympathy."
