Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp gives Alisson injury update as more 'severe' problem identified

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on the fitness of goalkeeper Alisson ahead of their next match in the Europa League.

The Brazilian suffered the injury in the closing stages of the match at the Etihad.

Liverpool had already lost Diogo Jota earlier in the match, with the Portuguese also appearing to suffer a muscle injury.

Klopp has now provided an update on both players, and it's mixed news for Liverpool supporters.

"Not day by day he cannot play tomorrow or Sunday probably not the week after, should be kind of okay.

"Diogo will take a little bit longer, don't know exactly, but it's a bit more severe. Have to see.."

Liverpool have several other players – including Thiago Alcantara and Andy Robertson – out injured and Klopp is ruing the loss of some of his most experienced players.

"In this busy time we need all the boys available. We have already a lot not available. Thiago and Robbo [Andy Robertson] are out...Diogo and Ali. That's massive," he added.

"It would be great if nothing else would happen! But that's unlikely. We have to share the intensity between the group."

A trip to Crystal Palace follows on December 9 before Liverpool travel to face Union Saint-Gilloise in their final Europa League group game on December 14.
